Awards Evening Information

As the current season draws to a close, plans are well under way for our Annual Awards Night on May 19th at 7pm in our partner hotel; Hilton Hotel Dublin Airport.  The night is aimed to celebrate and congratulate players and clubs from around the country and to reward our members for their on-going support and hard work that contributes so positively to the sport of badminton.

We have been lucky enough to secure great support from our partners in building awards for the night these (which?) include:
  • FREE return flights in Europe with Aer Lingus
  • FREE weekend for two at the Conrad Hotel Dublin.
  • FREE coaching sessions with National Coach Dan Magee
  • FREE coaching sessions with former Korean and GB National coach Lee Jae Bok
  • A teams weekend coaching at the Marino Institute of Education with the National coaching team, staying at the Hilton Dublin Hotel
  • FREE VIP tickets for the Irish Open 2012.
  • Various FREE badminton materials, shuttles, rackets, clothing

This years award categories are:

-          National & Regional Adult Volunteers of the Year

-          National Student Volunteer of the Year

-          National Junior Volunteer of the Year

-          Official of the Year Lifetime Achievement

-          Club Website of the Year

-          Regional Young Players of the Year

-          Male Player of the Year

-          Female Player of the Year

-          Club of the Year

 

Along with the standard awards we have expanded the Adult Volunteer of the Year and Young player of the Year award to introduce winners in each province.  We have also introduced a Student Volunteer award and an Official of the Year Lifetime Achievement award.

Thanks to those clubs who have already sent in nominations – there is still time to get nominating!  Anyone can nominate but all nominees must be affiliated to Badminton Ireland.  Nomination forms are attached and can be found on www.badmintonireland.com.  You can nominate for Adult, Student and Junior Volunteer of the Year, Club Website of the Year and Club of the Year awards.  All nomination forms must be returned no later than Friday 27th April 2012.  Due to the selection process of picking the winners, no late entries will be accepted.  More information can be found in the individual nomination forms, however if you have further questions you can contact can contact Damien Molloy - ( CLOAKING ).

 

Discounted room rates are available at the Hilton Hotel Dublin Airport for Badminton Ireland affiliated players, so if you are booking there for the awards night, make sure you give them your BI number to obtain the discount.

Scottish Four Nations 2011

Wheelchair Doubles at Scottish 4 Nations 2011The Scottish leg of the 4 Nations Parabadminton Series took place in Glasgow from 18th-20th February, and 11 players from the Pan-Disability Lisburn Badminton Club travelled to the competition, along with coaches and parents.
