Badminton Ireland to launch ‘Skills Based Programme’ which will provide a pathway of progression for players and coaches alike by providing a syllabus from which players and coaches can develop their skills.

 The ‘Skills Based Programme’ will focus heavily on the technique of strokes, movement and tactics.

 In many ways the  ‘Skills based programme’ will operate in a similar way to Karate’s white to black belt system, instead of belts we will use t shirts as an indicator of level.

 As a first step in the delivery of this project over Easter we have scheduled three dates for members to take part in the first complete presentation of the project and the delivery of the first White (Level 1) and Yellow (Level 2) awards. There will be a small cost of €6 for attending the Coaching workshop.

These first three sessions will be based in Dublin, Galway and Bangor; locations selected on the first come, first serve basis after we advertised the possibility of holding a coaching workshop two weeks ago. The unsuccessful locations will be held and offered the next series of coaching workshops scheduled for the summer.

 Finally I would bring your attention to the 2012 Coaching Seminar which we are pencilling in for the 14/15^th July; where we will look to build upon last year’s success.
